Carve Out a Creative Space
July 16, 2008
Here are some ideas for making your own creative space:
Many great ideas were born at the kitchen table. If you must clean up your stuff while a work is in progress, use a large tray, basket or plastic bin to contain everything. Place it on top of the refrigerator or some other out-of-the-way but easy-to-reach spot.
Convert a guestroom closet into your creativity lab. Build a shelf inside the closet to use as a desk and build more shelves above to store your supplies. This is great because you can just close the door when company comes to visit.
Set up a card table or a desk that can be used solely for crafting. A good friend of mine put her card table in a walk-in closet. Now she can leave her scrapbooking supplies on the table without worrying that they'll be tempting to little hands.
Another creative friend converted a small shed into a garden studio. Visiting her gave me a new vision for turning my home office into an inspiring, artistic space.
